“Kane and Wilder’s book will save lives. It will keep others out of prison. As an attorney, a self-defense instructor, and someone who has experienced violence, I was most impressed with the practical and realistic information”
Alain Burrese, J.D., former U.S. Army 82nd Airborne, author

“Fills in crucial information about street survival that most instructors don’t teach or even know.”

The Little Black Book of Violence When I first read this book, I was pissed!

Starting in 2000, when I read On Combat: The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and Peace by Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman, I started planning to write a book on fighting which included not only material on fighting principles but which would be a compendium of all the things which would be helpful for a young guy to know on this subject: legal issues, physiological aspects such as adrenal stress, the psychology of intimidation and bully behavior, and so on.

Lawrence A. Kane and Kris Wilder beat me to it!

Together with co-writers Marc “Animal” MacYoung and Rory Miller (who have both written other valuable books on fighting and fight psychology, including the other book that stole most of my research thunder, Facing Violence: Preparing for the Unexpected , they have pulled a lot of great and useful information into a small space.

A sensible segment of the content is spent addressing how to avoid and get out of the situations before they become violent.

They address a wide range of issues such as how girlfriends can get you into trouble, how to recognize the signals that precede violence, the severe danger of knives , the legal issues, and many other subjects, many of which you will find that I have also covered on this site (but they probably did it better – I’m still learning!).
