I Liq Chuan is a martial art that combines principles of Tai Chi, Xingyi, and Bagua, with an emphasis on awareness, relaxation, and sensitivity.  Ashe Higgs is one of the top instructors in this system; having studied various styles such as karate, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in 1997 he was introduced to I Liq Chuan by Grandmaster Sam F.S. Chin.

I’ve been checking out his Youtube page and think he is doing a very helpful job of providing commentary and explanations for aspects of the system.  He has a clear and concise teaching style, as well as his ability to break down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand terms. He also provides practical applications for a system that can be, at first approach, somewhat esoteric.  Ashe is also a certified personal trainer and a certified sports nutritionist.

I’m finding I Liq Chuan to be a complementary art to Wing Chun, providing more options and other kinds of structure for the bridge.  It kind of brings an element of the round or spherical to complement Wing Chun’s triangles and straight lines.  More on the details of this later!
