Wan Kam Leung Video on Practical Wing Chun
January 31, 2013
There is too much wastage of force using large flowery movements. To economise movement and maximise energy output is crucial to good Wing Chun. Short, fast bursts of energy allow for effective fighting that is hard to defend.

Sifu Leung is really putting himself out there these days – this is good for us, so we can check out his moves.
His Wing Chun is pretty different from what I’m being taught and I really can’t comment on the differences without going to Hong Kong, studying with him, and hearing his explanations.
It just reminds me of what I’ve been told by my teacher: we are must create our own Wing Chun eventually, an expression of our personalities and our physical attributes. Wong Shun Leung’s WC was different from Ip Man’s. Gary Lam evolved a big man style of Wing Chun, plus added Thai Kick boxing and has an emphasis Po Pai and other stuff you don’t see taught other places. Sifu Leung has clearly developed his own flavor.
