Hey Steve, this is very interesting and informative, Bruce Lee only learned some of the WC system. Is that why he came up with JKD to fill in the gaps of techniques he did not know ?

Well, this is very controversial as you can imagine.
He definitely didn’t learn the entire system. I’ve heard he offered Ip Man a lot of money to teach him the dummy, but these are just rumors.
Probably many WC people would say yes – Wong Shun Leung said as much in several interviews/articles.
JKD people might stress his development of a mixed martial arts approach to try and gain control over all fighting ranges, not just the close WC range, and think he would have gone in this direction anyway.
I think he was probably too independent and individualistic to stay in one system. He had a very restless intellect and wanted to learn everything.
